Happy Labor Day from all of at MVFS

Wild Trout & Native Brook Trout, and how fly fishing has been lately.

September fly fishing is mostly done in the upper elevations, where we seek out colder water and fly fish early in the morning. The fishing has been great all summer long; and now we are starting to see some October caddis show up, and we will be moving to fall patterns soon. Dry droppers with orange and yellow stimulators, sizes #14- 16, are working well right now with Perdigon Gasolinas for the dropper in size #18. For nymphs, use purple duracells in sizes 16 & 18s, black deaths and green mops and greenie weenies on those bright days. Keep an eye on the water temps - 58-61 is a good spot to be at. Use smaller diameter tippet (6-7x) for clear conditions.

Fall Float Trips on the Tuckaseegee River.

Fall Float Trips are booking up fast and dates are limited. With the stocking of the Tuckaseegee River in October, float trips will be solid as in years past, plus you have large browns moving up and you will have the opportunity to throw larger streamers and get one of this river's monster browns. These trips are great for folks who do not want to wade.
